How a Texas Plumber’s Truck Ends Up with Terrorists in Syria

The things this truck has seen, if we only knew.

The bizarre odyssey of Jeff Oberholtzer’s old work truck proves that you really have no idea what might happen to your car after you decide to scrap it. Oberholtzer, who works at Mark-1 plumbing in Texas City, Texas, reportedly sold one of his company’s Ford F-250 trucks to an AutoNation dealership in nearby Houston.

The car soon went to auction, and the rest is history — or it would be, if we had any idea what happened. Regardless, USA Today reports that somehow the truck wound up in the hands of Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar in Syria — an Islamist terrorist group comprised of mostly┬áRussian and Chechen Muslim extremists.

Oberholtzer of course had no idea what became of his trusty Ford until the terrorist group tweeted a photo containing the truck, which still has the plumbing company’s logo emblazoned on its side. The tweet led to a flood of unwanted, threatening┬ácalls to Mark-1 plumbing.

“To think something we would use to pull trailers, now is being used for terror, it’s crazy. Never in my lifetime would think something like that,” Oberholtzer told KHOU.

Of the influx of threatening calls, Oberholtzer said, “We have a secretary here, she’s scared to death. We all have families. We don’t want no problems.”
