Spidey took number 1 at the Domestic Box Office this weekend. In its opening week Sony’s “The Amazing Spider Man” landed at the top spot earning $65 Million over the weekend with a total of $140 million since it opened on Tuesday. Worldwide, the movie grossed $341.2 million, a much higher sum than the $230 million many industry prognostics predicted.
Two other movies that enjoyed their domestic opening weekend were Ted Oliver’s “Savages” and the 3-D documentary “Katy Perry: Part of me.” They landed the 4th and 8th spot over the weekend bringing in $ 16,162,000 and $7,150,000, respectively.
Seth McFarlane’s “Ted” slid to the number 2 spot with $32.6 million, a drop of 40% since its opening last weekend.
Disney-Pixar’s “Brave” sat steady at number 3 with $20,162,000, whereas “Magic Mike” slid three spots down to number 5 bringing Warner Brothers a domestic total of $15, 610, 000.
