We’re always happy (and surprised) when we hear the rare story about a couple from the reality dating show The Bachelor/Bachelorette actually make it long term.
Let’s be honest- The show doesn’t have a great track record of bringing together lasting couples, which is why we are happy to announce Jason and Molly Malaney Mesnick from the 13th season of The Bachelor are expecting their first child together in March.
‘WAHOOOOOOOO!!! Molly is going to be a MOM and TY a BIG BROTHER!” Jason wrote to his Twitter followers.
People reported the 28-year-old Molly said “I’m into my second trimester and I feel really good.”
The couple met on the show, which ended in controversy when Jason left Melissa Rycroft, whom he initially proposed to at the end of the show, to ask Molly for second chance during the season finale. The couple married in February 2010 and live in Seattle.
The new baby will join 7-year-old Ty, Jason’s son from a previous marriage. The news was revealed to little Ty through a family game of hang man when Jason, 36, said: “The answer [is] ‘Tyler is going to be a big brother!”’
Jason announced “He’s been so excited to be a big brother. He’s been asking me for years. So we played the game and he looked at Molly and I and said ‘Really?’ Molly made him a t-shirt that says ‘Big Brother’ on it and he’s really proud. He wore it to school.”
Congrats to the whole family.
