It’s no secret that Valentine’s Day is a bittersweet occasion for the majority of humanity. There is no other day on the planet that sees ONE BILLION greeting cards exchanged, 50 million roses given, and more than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate handed out and eventually consumed. (These figures and more are available on www.stvalentinesday.org.)
Valentine’s Day can also be an entirely depressing day for some folks, especially those people who are single or experiencing relationship challenges. (In fact, Psychology Today published an article to help the lonely cope with their depression by looking at the medical side of things, and why we find a need to be involved in this holiday.)
To make light of the day, the First to Know editorial team has compiled 14 things we hate about Valentine’s Day. Scroll through the above slideshow to be amused. And remember, Valentine’s Day will come and go, but true love is built when we attend to it each and every day.
