We’ve always been captivated by a photographer’s ability to turn a common subject into a fascinating work of art.
For photographer Thomas Herbrich, smoke just so happens to be the subject.
Herbrich snapped about 100,000 photos on his quest to showcase how smoke can become an intricate series of designs. As the smoke billows upward and meets an air current, it begins to contort and move in a very interesting fashion.
Have you ever lied on your back in the grass and watched as the clouds above shifted into various forms before dispersing and disappearing into thin air? Well, that’s exactly what columns of smoke do.
