The road is a dangerous place in celebrity land these days.
Actress Sally Struthers, famous for her roles as Gloria Bunker from All in the Family, and Babette Dell from Gilmore Girls, was arrested in Maine today on suspicion of drunk driving.
Struthers is in Oguinquit, Maine participating in a 9 to 5 stage revival. Her official arrest was for an OUI (Operating Under the Influence) and she was quickly freed after paying the $160 bail.
Her rep released the following statement to the public: “Sally is working and she is fine and she loves The Ogunquit Playhouse and her yearly time in Ogunquit. We deny these charges.”
The actress must attend an arraignment hearing in mid-December where she could face a three month driving suspension and/or a fine.
Joining her in drunk driving arrests today is 54-year old actor Michael Madsen, best known for his Quentin Tarantino films. Madsen was seen driving erratically in Malibu, California on Pacific Coast Highway early this morning and was pulled over.
When given a breathalyzer test, the actor blew a 0.21 (California’s legal limit is 0.08) and was charged with DUI. His lawyer is blaming the results on prescription medication the actor has been taking.
However, his struggle with alcoholism is well documented by his past arrests and checking in and out of rehab centers.
Still, the winner of bad celebrity driving by a landslide goes out to actress Amanda Bynes.
After countless motor vehicle accidents this year, Bynes was seen (and photographed by paparazzi) twice in the past two days driving on a suspended licence.
The most recent sighting also included her smoking something from a pipe while she drove.
According to TMZ, Bynes is photographed breathing in the smoke from the pipe with remnants of burnt marijuana in a cup holder.
Bynes will have her day in court stemming from two previous hit-and-run charges on September 27. Her legal troubles won’t end there, as she still has her April 2012 DUI to deal with. And, if her recent actions are any indication, she could be racking up even more charges in the future.
Someone get this girl off the road, fast!
