‘Trainspotting 2’? Film with Most Disgusting Scene Ever Might Get Sequel

When you think of 1996’s British flick Trainspotting, what do you think of?

If you’ve ever watched the film, chances are there is one scene that immediately comes to mind. You know which one we’re talking about: The one where main character Mark Renton dives into “The Worst Toilet (bowl) in Scotland” that is filled with his own diarrhea to swim through the shit (literally) to retrieve his opium suppository lest he lose his fix for good.

Now that you have that image in your head, here’s the news: Danny Boyle, the director who brought you the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s novel of the same name, recently hinted that a sequel might be forthcoming.

Speaking to The Playlist, Boyle revealed that original scriptwriter John Hodge is going at it again for a sequel, based on Welsh’s own sequel Porno. Boyle said if it is a satisfactory enough script, the next film would be slated for 2016.

“This has been a long time coming,” Boyle said. “There’s always been this long term plan for Trainspotting 2, if John can produce a decent enough script, I don’t think there will be any barriers to Ewan [McGregor — who played Renton in the first film] or any of the cast coming back. I think they’ll wanna know that the parts are good so they don’t feel like they are letting anyone down.”

He elaborated on the importance of meeting the standards set by the first movie.

“The reason for doing it again is that people cherish the original, people remember it or have caught up with it if they never saw because they were younger. So you want to make sure you don’t disappoint people. That will be the only criteria I think,” he explained.

Our question, however, is if this means they’ll have to come up with a scene up to par, or even more revolting than the toilet bowl dive.

We’ll have to wait and see. In the meanwhile, here’s that disgusting scene from the first movie.

Just a word of caution: Watch on your own discretion. Also, you probably don’t want to watch this while eating.
