Turn Your Smartphone Into a 3D Hologram Projector

This is one of the coolest DIY projects we’ve seen: How to turn your smartphone into a 3d hologram projector. All you need are some simple things you probably have lying around the house:

  • Old CD case you’re willing to destroy
  • A utility knife
  • Clear tape
  • A marker
  • A bank or credit card (just for the pattern, but a business card would probably work as well)
  • And, of course, a smartphone

It seems like a crazy concept, but in this 2-minute video you will see how to do it, and see that it really works. It comes via our regular contributor, Daniel Ehlers from EhlersTV on YouTube. Here’s how he describes the project:

Holograms are pretty cool!
Today I show you how to turn your smartphone into a 3D hologram projector, without an app!
You can turn your smartphone into a 3D holographic video viewer with this simple DIY project in 2 minutes.
When paired with a special “hologram-ready” video, this device will create the illusion that you’re observing a floating 3D image!

While the video is only 2 minutes, it will take a little longer than that to assemble it yourself — but it’s well worth it. Check it out above.
