According to the Shanghaiist, a two-year-old alcoholic in eastern China’s Anhui province has become known as the “Little Winebibber” because he chooses to drink beer and wine over milk.
When he was only 10-months-old, Cheng Cheng reportedly already had a taste of beer, as well as both white and red wines. His father introduced him to alcohol by dipping his chopsticks into a little wine. And the rest is history.
Now, whenever the family brings out something intoxicating to sip on, Cheng Cheng is right there demanding to drink some.
“At that time, all of us in the family have already thought that this child can really drink a lot when he grows up,” explains his aunt Cai. “As sometimes he is really noisy, we have no options but let him to try a little bit of wine.”
Despite being a toddler, he is capable of downing an entire bottle of beer without experiencing any of the side effects.
Authorities and social services in China are currently debating whether to place him in protective care. His family could end up facing legal consequences over their questionable parenting.
While they have tried to get him to drink milk instead of juice or other drinks, in the past, the family has been known to joke around about Cheng Cheng’s love for the bottle. Now, they are rethinking their actions.
“We will not let him drink or touch alcohol anymore as we are afraid that it will affect his growth,” his aunt added.
A meeting will be held this week to determine the child’s future.
