UFO Hearings Take Place In DC

earth-graphics-200_1079954aSince Monday, five former representatives and a former senator have been listening to witnesses talk about what they’re calling a colossal 10-year long government cover-up of the existence of extraterrestrial life.

Billed as the “Citizen Hearing on Disclosure,” has all the appearance of a traditional hearing on Capital Hill. Members of Congress are present, and witnesses are sworn in—the difference is these politicians are getting paid to be there—$20,000 for the week.

The “hearing” is being produced by the Paradigm Research Group, to bring awareness to public of the potential existence of ETs, and for Paradigm to use footage from the panel, to make a documentary about the alleged government cover-up of alien life.

Many of the witnesses have travelled from various countries to offer testimony of their eyewitness UFO encounters. One came from a 25-year Peruvian air force fighter pilot. Col. Oscar Santa-Maria. In 1980, he was ordered to takeoff and shoot down a sphere-shaped UFO that was in restricted airspace near an air base. Unable to take down an object he described to the committee as 30 feet in diameter with a dome on top, no visible engine, wings or windows.

The group’s executive director, Stephen Bassett, told the New York Daily News that he initially reached out to 55 former members of Congress with an offer of $10,000 to attend. Bassett then doubled the offer, and garnered attendance from the likes of former Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick, former Rep. Merrill Cook, former senator Mike Gravel, and former Rep. Roscoe Bartlett.

There was much skepticism throughout the hearings though, with Bartlett at one point asking if anyone had ever seen the bodies of the “little men” supposedly being put into crates at Roswell.

Most of the “evidence” dates back to the 50’s and 60’s and the reasons why the government maybe hiding information was never really brought to light.

Some of former representatives tried to steer the conversation to more recent and relevant issues like health care for veterans, government transparency, or energy dependence, but most of the event was staged in an effort to get enough footage of the reps asking questions about ETs and crash sites for Bassett and Paradigm to get what they want for their documentary.
