Singer Usher’s step-son from ex-wife Tameka Foster was hospitalized on Friday after being involved in a horrific boating accident.
11-year-old Kyle Glover was spending time with a friend on inner tubes at Lake Lanier in Georgia when the two collided with a Jet Ski operated by 38-year-old family friend, Jeffrey Hubbard, reports MTV News. The youngsters were air lifted to the Children’s Healthcare at Egleston where the unidentified friend was treated for a cut on the head and a broken arm and is said to be in serious condition.
Glover, who was knocked unconscious upon impact, showed no brain activity when he arrived at the hospital and was hooked up to life support. He was then pronounced brain dead, according to various sources. However, “officials have declined to speak publicly about the child’s condition, citing privacy concerns. The boy’s family has also not made any public statements regarding his condition,” says The Atlanta-Journal Constitution.
The investigation into the incident has thus far only been able to rule out alcohol as a factor. Officials plan to recreate the accident in order to learn more, TMZ reports. Charges may be filed based on the outcome.
Although Usher and his ex-wife are going through a messy custody battle, the tragedy seems to have temporarily brought the two together. Usher sent a private jet to Foster so she could be with her son, and he rushed to the hospital to be by their side as well.
Glover’s biological father is entertainment executive Ryan Glover.
Although the family has been relatively quiet about the incident, Twitter-verse is ablaze with support from celebrities and fans as details continue to emerge.
