Isaac Caldiero and Geoff Britten became the first two American contestants to finish the finals course on American Ninja Warrior. Completing the course with a three-second advantage over Britten, Caldiero became the first-ever winner of the show’s $1,000,000 prize money.
Caldiero told E! News that he is “still in awe” of being awarded that much prize money, because he has never made more than $10,000 in a year. He noted to be a professional rock climber, who built a replica of some of the course’s challenges in his own backyard in order to train.
He has competed on American Ninja Warrior twice before, and on this final—and successful—attempt he spent a year of training in preparation.
