WATCH: Create a Beautiful DIY Watercolor Mug Design with Water and Nail Polish

Ever wanted to create a beautifully artistic, yet personalized mug? If it’s as a gift to a loved one, or even just for yourself this DIY tutorial—by Audra Kurtz—shows you how to make the easiest, yet most beautiful hand-painted mug.

It’s ridiculously simple and can be done in just a couple seconds. The best part is you probably already have all the materials in your house!

All you need is a mug to decorate, nail polish in whatever colors you’d like, some warm water and toothpicks.

Simply layer the nail polish on the surface of the water, swirl it into a pretty design with the toothpicks, then dip the mug in the water.  You should let the mug dry for a couple hours so the design has time to set. According to Kurts, these mugs should be hand washed only—the design is a little too delicate to go through the dishwasher.
