Abby, who has been battling leukemia, is one of the most adorable four-year-olds you’ll ever meet. She made a special connection with one of her nurses at the hospital where she is being treated, a man named Matt Hickling, and was overjoyed when he accepted her “marriage proposal.”
Staff at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers were more than happy to pull out all the stops and throw together a special ceremony—everything from her pretty dress, flowers, and a cake were taken care of. Abby even had bridesmaids to attend to her.
Hickling posted about the event— which he dressed for in a tux t-shirt over his scrubs—on his Facebook page:
“Our patient shyly asked me to marry her. I didn’t hesitate to say yes, I got a HUGE hug and we sealed the deal with ring pops being placed on our fingers! We then took a stroll down the hall in our “Just Married” car (well I pushed) and headed back into the room for cake and photos. This is when Dr. Lauren Silverman helped our patient slam cake right in my face. Our patient stated ‘this is the best day ever’ while hoping around in her beautiful dress, veil and phenomenal bouquet prepared by Enchanted Gardens.”
