WATCH: What Happens When You Step on Lava?

If your curious mind ever wondered what it would be like to step on molten lava, this video will answer all of your questions.

YouTuber Alex Rivest recently posted a video of someone demonstrating “how viscous the molten rock is” by briefly stepping on a slow-moving portion of a flow.

As you can see, the lava is actually quite gelatinous; it quickly springs back into form after his foot is removed from the surface.

Considering that the temperature of lava is about 1,292 to 2,192 °F, it was wise of him not to stick his foot in any further.

Of course, we don’t recommend anyone trying this on their own.
