If you thought contact lenses only recently started to replace eye glasses in modern times, you’d be wrong. Back in the day it was still possible to improve your vision with contact lenses, but they still had to be carefully fitted to the patient. The process of getting fitted for contact lenses can be a little uncomfortable, even in this day and age of technology.

Back in 1948, getting contact lenses fitted wasn’t so simple and was much more horrifying.

First, the patient had to have measurements and molds made of their eyeball, followed by painstaking shaping of the lens in order to achieve the perfect fit.
