Ahh it’s that time of the year again. Holiday lights are up, cute scarves and hats are everywhere you look and of course Mariah Carey’s ‘All I want for Christmas is You’ has been on the radio a hundred times already. As one of the most overplayed holiday songs around, we’re sure we’re going to listen to a hundred times more before the end of the season.
But we’re not complaining. Especially after last night’s episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where we got what might just be the best rendition yet of the classic song.
Carey stopped by the Music Room yesterday to perform the tune with Fallon and The Roots. But here’s where it gets really good: The band decided to forego real instruments and instead made music with toys, including a blue recorder and a plastic xylophone. The show did something similar with Carly Rae Jepsen over the summer, but we think we like the holiday edition more.
And if all this isn’t awesome enough, Fallon also included kids in the bit to sing parts of the song. Throw some fun holiday sweaters in the mix, and we’ve got the best holiday video of the Christmas season.
