WATCH: ‘Maxi Pad Bandit’ Finally Caught When Disguise Fails

If the “Maxi Pad Bandit” sounds like one of the worst supervillain names ever, that’s probably because it is. One man was finally caught after allegedly robbing a California auto parts store, despite trying to keep his identity a secret by putting a strategically placed maxi pad over his face.

Security cameras show a man walking into the store with a feminine hygiene pad taped across his head and over his eyes.

He uses a plank of wood to smash through the glass of the front door of the Battery Mart. He reportedly stole several battery chargers and flashlights before making his escape.

The owner of the Battery Mart, Mark Wedell, said that after viewing the surveillance footage they knew right away what to call their robber: The Maxi Pad Bandit.

“We had a pretty good picture of his face,” said Wedell. “He came to the store the first time and looked in the window without his maxi pad on, but when he came back and he had the maxi pad over his eyes, I guess he thought it was going to take care of everything.”

But the pad turned out not to be the catch-all solution he had hoped for. After reviewing the footage, investigators were quickly able to identify him as 51-year-old Gary Victor.

Victor was soon arrested on suspicion of burglary and stolen property

The stolen items were discovered in his possession and returned to the Battery Mart.
