WATCH: Ohio Firefighter Pops the Question During School Fire Drill

As a kid in elementary school, fire drills were the highlight of the year. But for Ms. Z, this particular fire drill would be the highlight of her life.

Greentown, Ohio, firefighter Justin Deierling surprised his girlfriend Megan Zahorec, who is a counselor at Greentown Intermediate School, by popping the question during a school fire drill in front of the staff and students.

Zahorec thought the building had emptied for a real fire drill, but soon, she saw a sign mounted on the side of the fire truck that said “Miss Z, will you marry me?”

Before she knew it, Deirling was kneeling on one knee right in front of her.

The couple first met when he volunteered as a firefighter and passed out water to students at their school walk-a-thon.

“I knew how much she loved her job and the kids at Greentown and wanted to include them as well as the place we met”, he wrote on YouTube. “I thought what better [way] to do this than a fire drill.”

Adam Deierling, Justin’s brother, told TODAY.com that Justin had been planning the big moment for two weeks. “He didn’t let anyone in on it except a few guys at the firehouse, a couple people at the school, and then me, of course,” he said.

“Megan has changed my life in the best way. I wanted to do something super special for her, Deirling said. “It was a great successes.”

Indeed it was. Congratulations you two!
