This Friday, July 19th, Marvel Studios will be hosting a panel at Comic-Con International on next summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie. To get fans excited and promote tomorrow’s panel, the company released a teaser trailer featuring Jamie Foxx, who will be playing the villain Electro.
While things can always change between now and then, the panel for this highly-anticipated superhero sequel is slated to include Foxx, actor Andrew Garfield, actor Dane DeHann and director Marc Webb. Garfield is reprising his role as the web-slinger, while DeHann is playing Harry Osborn, Peter Parker’s old friend who was played by James Franco in the fairly recent Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie franchise.
For those of you who don’t know about Electro, in the comic books he’s a longtime villain, who for years sported green spandex and a lightening bolt mask that was supposed to reflect his electrical powers. (Don’t judge, he was created in the 1960s. But, for you random trivia buffs, in 2009 he was ranked as IGN‘s 87th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time.) Electro is the alter ego of Max Dillon, who was struck by lighting while fixing some power lines. It’s doubtful the green tights and gold mask will appear in this incarnation (see movie versus comic book images below), and no telling how his back story will be adapted for this feature film.
However, if you’re at Comic-Con and Foxx or one of the others lets some plot points slip, please do let us know!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is due out May 2, 2014. Check out the teaser clip above.
