In the video above what you’ll see is the chaotic moment when passersby find a newborn, with its umbilical cord and placenta still attached, dumped outside in a garbage bag. At first they think it’s dead because it’s not moving, but soon they realize the baby’s very much alive.
The crowd is surprised that the baby is alive, and alive it is with arms outstretched to one of the kind-hearted women who bundles it up in a blanket.
A group of men and women are heard shouting as they assemble the necessary items to wrap the child and take it to safety — we can only guess where.
Abandoning babies is a world wide epidemic. On Tuesday, the body of newborn was found inside a bin in Cape Town, South Africa, according to Eyewitness News. In China, abandonment (mainly of baby girls) has been encouraged by the one-child policy and a traditional bias for sons, who support elderly parents and continue the family name.
