We have long loved Bryan Fuller’s work. From Pushing Daisies to the first season of Heroes, he always brings a really wonderful, creative, and innovative take on characters and story lines. So we were pretty thrilled that he was tasked for Mockingbird Lane, the reboot of the classic TV series The Munsters.
THEN we heard about this killer cast: Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as Lily Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Charity Wakefield as Marilyn Munster, Mason Cook as Eddie Munster, Beth Grant as Maryanne (a paraplegic, busybody neighbor who takes a very keen interest in the strange new family next door), and hunky Cheyenne Jackson as Scout Master Steve. This, we were sure, was going to be GREAT!
Sadly, it looks like NBC isn’t as in love with the pilot or the working relationship. Variety reports there were disagreements between the two about the show’s ultimate design, and NBC execs didn’t love Fuller’s attempt to recreate the feel of Pushing Daisies. So now the network isn’t picking it up for a series… yet. It’s airing the pilot as a Halloween special this Friday, October 26th, but if it does well then there could be a series to follow.
Check out the trailer. Perhaps if enough fans come on board the show could be reanimated.
