An elderly gentleman dined alone at an In-n-Out restaurant, his appearance unremarkable save for the black and white photo of a woman propped up in front of him.  His adoring gazes at the photo prompted fellow patrons to ask him about the lady in the picture, and the response turned out the be a heartwarming story that restores our faith that true love exists.

The man has become an internet sensation after the image of him eating alone with his deceased wife’s picture went viral, the Huffington Post reported.

Diner Madina Bashizaduah is the one responsible for snapping the photo and posting it online. She was at the In-n-Out restaurant when she spotted the elderly man and automatically assumed that the woman in the picture must be no longer alive. she said the sight caused her to have an emotional draw to the gentleman.

Other diners asked him about his story, and he was delighted to share the story of how he met his sweetheart.

It turns out the widower’s wife passed away in 2009, but because he could not bear to think of himself alone without the love of his life, he carries her picture with him wherever he goes.  Although his wife has been gone for five years, he still kisses her photo goodnight every night.

He met his wife when they were 17, but lost contact when he went to war.

After he returned he searched for her for 10 years and never dated anyone else.

He reconnected with his lady love by happenstance, when he was at a barber shop describing her. The barber introduced him to his daughter, who turned out to be his long-time love. She had been searching for him and never dated as well. They were married quickly and were together for 55 years.

In his advice to couples, The Mirror reported, he told diners that “people are like candles. At any moment a breeze can blow it out, so enjoy the light while you have it.”
