Watch: Woman Accused of Lacing Roommates’ Food with Windex

A student at the University of South Carolina was arrested after she was allegedly caught on surveillance footage trying to poison her roommates’ food. According to reports from PIX11 News, 22-year-old Hayley King was charged with unlawful, malicious tampering with a human drug product or food.

King’s roommates reported her to authorities after they found disturbing footage that showed her spitting in, and spraying Windex cleaner on, their food.

According to the roommates, they had several ongoing disagreements between themselves and King which ultimately led them to ask her to leave the house. They described to authorities “multiple altercations” in the weeks leading up to the attempted poisoning.

King refused to leave, and the tensions in the house eventually caused the roommates to fear for what she might do to them.

The roommates set up cameras around the house to monitor her actions, which is when they finally caught her tampering with dishes of food in the refrigerator.

According to reports, one roommate allegedly ate some of the contaminated food unknowingly.

After she was caught on camera trying to poison her housemates, police were called and King was arrested.

She was later released on $5,000 bond, but faces felony charges with a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted. Police say that she confessed to her actions during questioning.
