A Nebraska mom allowed her boyfriend to bound her two sons to a chair with duct tape and then force them to watch the film Mommie Dearest, police said.
Mary Lucas has now been charged with felony child abuse for this strange incident which took place in August.
Lucas told police that she wanted her kids watch the movie after they called her the “meanest mommie.” She thought the movie would show the boys what a truly mean mother is like. She simply wanted to prove them wrong about her, the affidavit said.
Mommie Dearest stars Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford, the famous actress and famously abusive mother in real life.
Lucas knew that her boyfriend, 29-year-old Glenn Oliver, had duct-taped her sons while watching them and forced them to watch the movie, according to her wishes. She even texted a friend about it, saying, “It’s just a misunderstanding, I will take care of it when I get home,” the affidavit says.
She was arrested earlier this month.
Lucas’s boyfriend told police he taped the kids because he was “tired and frustrated” from watching them and they refused to sit still for the film.
He has previously been charged with child abuse and false imprisonment, and is now being held along with Lucas.
