In November 1974, The New Original Wonder Woman premiered on ABC television. This pilot movie introduced Lynda Carter to the world as the Amazon Princess, Diana, and was a hit among TV viewers. Part action / adventure, part camp / comedy, this broadcast spawned off two more specials that eventually led to a three-season run — one that took place in the 1940s on ABC, and two seasons taking place in the 1970s on CBS.
There have been many failed attempts at bringing Wonder Woman back to television and movies, but none have succeeded. Some argue that it’s just been too difficult to recreate a character that strays away from the iconic version Carter originated. However, there is great anticipation over the character’s appearance in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice feature film, which stars actress Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman. Forbes even went so far as to say the success of that movie will largely depend on whether or not audiences approve of this new Wonder Woman.

And, in case you care, below is a shot of Gal Gadot in the new Wonder Woman costume, along with the image she tweeted from the set earlier this week.
