The hoverboard has been one of the most gifted presents this year. With that in mind, a priest in the Philippines decided it would be funny to deliver his sermon on one of them.
On Christmas Eve, the priest came out to the congregation gliding through the aisles of the church while singing a Christmas song in English and Tagalog.
The spectacle was captured on film and has since gone viral.
Although most of the congregation seemed to enjoy the performance by taking photos and videos, his bosses weren’t too happy about it.
He was suspended by the leaders of his church and criticized for disrespecting the hurch.
The Diocese of San Pablo said on Facebook:
“The Eucharist demands utmost respect and reverence. It is the Church’s highest form of worship, not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get attention.”
The priest has apologized for his actions and vowed that such behavior would not happen again.
Some users on Facebook supported the priest saying, “I am sure the priest meant no disrespect. He was, no doubt, trying to be ‘relevant’ and establish a bond with the young. It was an error in judgment.”
